Saturday 21st of June - 12pm to 2pm

We are excited as always to be taking you on a vinous journey thousands of years in the making. Greece is a country that has an incredibly rich and divers history with the grape growing and wine making dating back more than 6 millennia. It was the centre of the wine world in 500 BC subsequently passing the mantle, knowledge and sophisticated wine culture to the Romans. In 1453 BC, Ottoman rule diminished viticulture with oppressive taxes and the industry didn't gain momentum until after WWII.

Today, Greece’s wine scene has never been more exciting, as young, dynamic producers work tirelessly to master the wealth of native varieties available to them. Greece has between 200 & 300 of them, with only around 80 that have been bottled and sold commercially. Greek wines are gaining recognition worldwide for their quality, diversity, and unique character. A combination of rich winemaking heritage with a new guard of producers strutting their stuff makes an even more exciting prospect.

While grapes like Assyrtiko, Xinomavro & Agiorgitikoti are mainstays, Greek wines and ones that many of our punters will be familiar with they offer a whole host of styles made from other varieties like Malagousia, Moschofileiro, Limniona, and so many more. Greek wines offer a depth and breadth of flavours and aromas that open a whole new world of wine to enjoy.
